Teaching Innovation

Promoting and safeguarding the quality of teaching in teacher education through evidence-based didactic development, advice and, where appropriate, support for teaching projects, as well as through strategic networking of stakeholders in teaching innovation in teacher education.

Tasks within this area of activity:

  • evidence-based didactic advice and support for the further development of teaching in response to current needs and questions
  • didactic design of, and support for, teaching formats in the Teaching and Learning Innovation Labs
  • supportive and advisory participation to promote teaching quality in curriculum and programme development processes
  • networking for teaching development projects, raising their visibility and facilitating exchange between them

Possible support services:

  • evidence-based stimulus and advisory services on current topics in teacher education (e.g. in the context of the Teaching Ateliers, for chairs or project groups, or in processes of conceptually revising curricula)
  • formats of higher education didactics offered in cooperation with the University's Higher Education Didactics team, as well as teaching collaborations for the further development of teaching and learning provision
  • feedback on module and course designs with a focus on teaching quality
  • advice and support on integrating school partnerships and questions of the theory–practice link into teaching concepts
  • raising the visibility of existing teaching development initiatives in cooperation with the science communication team of the Teacher Education Centre (ZLF)
  • initiating and supporting networks and exchange formats on questions of teaching quality development (e.g. the Teacher Education Forum, Teaching Ateliers, interdisciplinary forums such as PAL – Passau Labs in Teacher Education)

Examples of enquiries:

  • Are there opportunities for a teaching collaboration to promote the professional action competencies of student teachers on <<placeholder: standards and indicators in teacher education / core practices>> or <<placeholder: to promote basic competencies relating to digitalisation and AI>>?
  • With which teaching and learning concepts can new cross-cutting themes be meaningfully integrated into curricular structures?
  • How can a school-at-the-university project be realised within the framework of my course?
  • Who can I contact if I would like to further develop my teaching with regard to <<placeholder: a teacher-education-related topic>>? (e.g. generative artificial intelligence)
  • Are there currently teaching/research projects in teacher education working on <<placeholder: a teacher-education-related topic>>?
  • How can I further develop my own teaching in an evidence-based way, possibly through a project to research my own teaching?

Stages of Cooperation

Collaborative Teaching Development

Joint, medium-term development or revision of individual teaching formats, modules or sub-curricula.
